We toured the South Side Landfill this month and were amazed! This is where the RCA Dome fabric was headed before we jumped in. However, these guys rock! We learned that Indianapolis has one of the premiere landfills in the country: it prevents toxins from seeping into the ground water, and the methane produced by the waste powers a 6.5 acre greenhouse and part of the Rolls Royce Plant across the street!

1000 Dome Wallets, Clutches, and Messenger Bags now complete. We have about 100 items left... get 'em at our studio, Silver in the City, IndySwank, and the new Homespun in Irvington.

NEW PRODUCT! Melissa Oesch of 'Reimagined by Luna' has partnered with PUP to develop NOTEABLES, journals made almost entirely of recycled and repurposed materials. Like the Dome Bags, the covers of these journals were once part of the roof of the RCA Dome.

NOTEABLES will be unveiled this weekend at Melissa's booth at the Indy Green Fest. Click here for more information about the Fest. NOTEABLES will also be available at our May First Friday.

PUP met this week with Don Colvin and Andre Denman of Indy Parks to discuss the future use of the Dome Fabric throughout the Indianapolis Parks System. With this partnership, we will be developing real solutions for installing this incredible material throughout the city.

POCKET PARKS

NEW PROJECT! PUP has partnered with the Mapleton Fall Creek Development Corporation and Ball State University Architecture students to develop new pavilions for pocket parks in the neighborhood. This semester, the students are working with the Dome Fabric, investigating its properties and potential uses for shade structures and umbrellas.

PUP met this week with David Wu, Mayor Ballard's Policy Director, and Karen Haley, Director of the Office of Sustainability, to discuss the city's possible investment in bringing car-sharing to Indianapolis. They were encouraged by the opportunity, and we're now working to secure parking spaces around downtown.

Additionally, we're coordinating with local developers and various car-sharing companies to develop the best program for our city. We're aiming for a new model that can be applied to other Midwestern cities. Stay tuned...

TRANSIT ADVOCACY

After nearly a year of study, the Central Indiana Transit Task Force has announced its findings and plan for the future of mass transit in Indianapolis. Check out the proposed plan here. Unlike previous plans, this one was developed through a collaboration between CIRTA, IndyGo, the MPO, and private stakeholders.

The next step involves significant community input, so make sure to attend the meetings scheduled in your area. To get the transit system we want, we must speak up. Times and places for the community meetings can be found at Indy Connect's website www.indyconnect.org.

PUP attended the inaugural Indianapolis Sustainability Awards. Check out the winners here. In an address to the 400+ crowd, Mayor Ballard announced his commitment to improving the city's transit system and energy practices. A huge step in the right direction.
