Mission Statement: PEOPLE FOR URBAN PROGRESS is an Indianapolis-based non-profit that advances good design and civic sustainability by developing products and projects in connectivity, responsible reuse, and making.
Fundamentally, PUP is an urban design do-tank that is particularly interested in salvaging and repurposing resources pulled directly from the city. This work, both at the product and project levels, is about developing and promoting Indianapolis as an engaged, accessible, and innovative community.
The interns of the PUP STREET TEAM will report directly to the BRAND MANAGER and occasionally to the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. The PUP STREET TEAM, will be made up of a VIDEOGRAPHER, PHOTOGRAPHER, AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER. Interns will work as a group, primarily working in two key areas - content creation and event support.
The goal of the PUP STREET TEAM is to generate content and energy that will increase the public’s awareness of PUP, thus driving sales, web traffic, social media hits, and event attendance.
1. Content Creation
Collaborate with BRAND MANAGER to create content calendar including interview schedules, deadlines, and responsibilities.
Film, photograph, and interview people in Indianapolis, including key partners, collaborators, and beneficiaries of our work.
Develop and write relevant interview questions and content.
VIDEOGRAPHER will be responsible for filming and editing videos of interviews, events, and PUP product.
PHOTOGRAPHER will be be responsible for capturing and editing images of PUP products, events, and lifestyle.
GRAPHIC DESIGNER will create graphics to support videos and images, as well as general design work for ads, promotions, events, and products.
2. Event Support
Create promotional materials for PUP events.
Occasionally assist at events as an ambassador of the PUP brand, including but not limited to staffing events and assisting with setup/tear down.
PUP is a small team that operates in an open studio environment. The atmosphere is casual, collaborative, and focused, so it’s important that the STREET TEAM applicants are motivated self-starters. We’re looking for people who take direction well, but also know how to take initiative, work collaboratively, and work independently. The STREET TEAM will be working with a variety of individuals in various locations across Indianapolis; being adaptable and having an outgoing personality are key. STREET TEAM interns should be creative, effective communicators, and eager to learn from a local brand.
Each member of the PUP STREET TEAM is expected to use his/her own computer, but will be provided a work space, wifi, and relevant office supplies. We will have a station for video editing and photo booth.
