The Dome Project - View photos here.

Armed with research, a proposal, and determination, PUP challenged Sabre Demolition and Sheil Sexton Powers and Sons to rethink their disposal of the roof material of the former RCA Dome. After weeks of collaboration, 13 acres (90%) of the material was saved from an Indiana landfill.

Upon salvaging the roof, PUP immediately partnered with local organizations to repurpose the material throughout the city. As of May 2009, the Indianapolis Parks Department, which received 8 acres of the material, has planned to install shade structures and pavilions throughout the city’s parks system. Local beautification non-profit, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB), which received 5 acres, has re-roofed Herron High School and has several other projects in development.

Additionally, PUP is currently using the material as part of The Dome Bag Project

THE DOME PROJECT - We toured the South Side Landfill this month and were amazed! This is where the RCA Dome fabric was headed before we jumped in. However, these guys rock! We learned that Indianapolis has one of the premiere landfills in the country: it prevents toxins from seeping into the ground water, and the methane produced by the waste powers a 6.5 acre greenhouse and part of the Rolls Royce Plant across the street!

Tours available... you'll be amazed. More here.

THE DOME PROJECT - PUP met this week with Don Colvin and Andre Denman of Indy Parks to discuss the future use of the Dome Fabric throughout the Indianapolis Parks System. With this partnership, we will be developing real solutions for installing this incredible material throughout the city.
